GIVE A LITTLE / RECEIVE A LITTLE
As Covid-19 continues to affect Belize, SMART has ramped up efforts to help our customers and their families. Over the last three months we have contributed to an initiative “Give a Little, Receive a Little”.
Here Belizean young people gave of their time and resources to provide plates of food and other help to those in need.
SMART’s community outreach has also touched the lives of fire victims and supported both the Mental Health Association and BERT emergency response teams.
In October, SMART offered a platform to our customers who wished to donate to fire victims by using the SMART CARES program whereby customers could con- tribute through their prepaid credit. We also joined the Mental Health Association telethon and assisted sever- al families needing a hand. More so, our outreach included a young female entrepreneur who asked for a freezer so she could start a food vending business in order to care for her baby who has health complications and rising medical bills.
In September, in recognition of the risks taken by Belize’s front-line health care workers, SMART began a partnership with the Belize Emergency Response Team, BERT.
We provided a financial sponsorship for personal protective gear to medics and greatly improved the public’s ability to reach an ambulance through the establishment of SMART’s HOTLINE (0800911BERT). Executive Director of BERT, Andre Carrillo said, “We extend our gratitude to SMART for the continued collaboration and look forward to improving our communications systems for the greater good of the public.”
